August runs €120–190 a night here for a decent double, dropping to €70–110 in the shoulder weeks. Optional. Buses reach Cala Comte, Cala Bassa and Ibiza Town, and the Cala Bassa ferry removes the parking problem. A car helps for Cala Salada and the north.
San Antonio has a reputation built almost entirely on four hundred metres of it. The west end — a dense grid of bars behind the bay — is loud, young, cheap and completely unapologetic, and it is what most people mean when they say they are avoiding San Antonio.
The rest of the town is a different proposition. The seafront heading north towards Caló des Moro, and the bay side out towards Port des Torrent, are calm, considerably cheaper than anywhere comparable on the island, and put you closer to the best beaches on Ibiza than any other base. The sunset strip sits between the two, and the sunsets are genuinely as good as advertised even if the pavement crowds and €14 cocktails are not.
For nightlife, this is the best-value base on the island. Eden and Es Paradís are both a walk away, and Eden's €20–35 door is the cheapest big room here by a wide margin. Amnesia is a fifteen-minute taxi or a Discobus ride inland.
The beach in town is unremarkable. You are here for what is fifteen minutes west of it: Cala Comte, Cala Bassa, Cala Salada and the boat trips out of the marina.
Who should stay here
Book it if: Groups on a budget, first-timers who want the sunset strip and the boat parties, and anyone prioritising the west-coast beaches — Cala Comte, Cala Bassa and Cala Salada are all within twenty minutes.
Stay elsewhere if: Anyone booking the west end expecting sleep, and couples looking for the polished version of Ibiza. Book the seafront or the bay side instead of cancelling the area entirely.
Which clubs you can actually walk to
From San Antonio you can walk home from Eden (€20–35) and Es Paradís (€30–45). That is worth real money over a week: the taxi home from an inland club runs €25–45 each way, and doubles in the 04:00 queue.
